ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Ishpeming City Council, today, unanimously approved the construction of a new skate park in downtown Ishpeming. The new park will be constructed at the corner of Division Street and Pine Street, a block from City Hall. The design of the new facility was done by consulting actual skaters who use skate parks like the one planned for Ishpeming. City Manager Randy Scholz says the new park is just one of the many recreational facilities envisioned for the city.
“To be able to just increase the availability for people to do recreational activities and skating is a big part of that around here. So having some place where parents know where their kids are, they’re in town, they’re safe. I think that’s, that’s a great deal,” said Ishpeming City Manager Randy Scholz.
Construction is expected to begin in late July or early August.
