NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – As Pioneer Days continue in Negaunee, the VFW post held its annual Jeannie Kangas Memorial Wine Tasting and potluck dinner.
For a small donation OF $15 to VFW Post 3165, wine lovers could choose from dozens of different types of wine, and even keep the glass. This popular event is one of the main fundraisers for the Negaunee VFW and is always open to the public. The wine tasting is just one of the many events on the Pioneer Days schedule. Longtime member of the VFW Auxiliary, Leanne Guenther, says events like this bring out the best in people.
“It brings so many people together, and they’re all enjoying each other. And, you know, we may be from diverse backgrounds, we may have different political views, but we all come together,” said longtime VFW Auxiliary member Leanne Guenther.
The event also featured a raffle, live entertainment. All proceeds from the wine tasting will go to veterans’ family support programs.
