ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Fourth of July fireworks were postponed in several area communities due to the weather.
With severe thunderstorms predicted across the up this past weekend, the fireworks shows in several communities had to be postponed. Aerial displays in Ishpeming, Escanaba, and Manistique fell victim to the foul weather, due to safety concerns about lightning, which in some cases causes fireworks to detonate prematurely. Additionally, strong winds posed a hazard as well.
The fireworks shows in Escanaba and Manistique have been rescheduled for the night of July 12th, with Ishpeming’s fireworks to be held on Saturday, July 26th, as part of the annual Italian fest.
