MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Marquette’s Texas Roadhouse had plenty of law enforcement on scene on Tuesday — but not for emergency reasons.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run Committee often reaches out to communities for their support towards athletes competing in the Michigan Special Olympics. On Tuesday, Texas Roadhouse brought in various officers and first responders to help wait staff by serving bread rolls and drinks; they even learned how to line dance.
Rain or shine, the event brought departments from all over the area, from the Northern Michigan University Police Department, to Escanaba Public Safety.
“It was raining cats and dogs here a little bit ago, and everybody stayed. We had people outside, one of the Marquette County Sheriff’s deputies was walking people back and forth with an umbrella,” said Torch Run Executive Committee Member, Carl White. “We’ve got a lot of vehicles with lights on, I guess there’s been a lot of people little concerned what’s going on at Texas Roadhouse today.”
10% of all food sales made throughout the afternoon went towards the Michigan Special Olympics. Store Marketer, Mandy Anglen, says Tuesday’s event is just one of many ways that the Marquette community has helped make a difference, since opening in early 2024.
“Our guest counts and fundraisers have really put our small U.P. Texas Roadhouse on the map nationally,” said Anglen. “We’re very proud of the community turn out and couldn’t have done this without them.”
The Marquette Texas Roadhouse has been ranked one of the top stores for marketing among the company’s 600 plus locations throughout the country.
