WASHINGTON, D.C. – After pausing some weapons shipments, President Donald Trump announced they will send more weapons to Ukraine. The Pentagon says this will help the Ukrainians defend themselves as they work to secure a peace deal.

“We’re gonna send some more weapons,” said President Trump on Monday. “We have to. They have to be able to defend themselves. We’re gonna have to send more weapons. Defensive weapons primarily, but they’re getting hit very, very hard. So many people are dying in that mess.”

Last week the Pentagon announced they are holding back delivering some weapons to Ukraine. They said in a statement they are “reviewing their own capabilities to ensure when they provide aid to other nations, it never shortchanges itself in the process.”

Over the weekend, Russia launched its largest aerial attack of the war They sent 550 drones and missiles across Ukraine.

During a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the President said Russian President Vladimir Putin is ‘killing a lot of people’

“We get a lot of bulls*** from Putin thrown at us if you want to know the truth,” said Trump. “He was very nice all the time, but it turns out to be meaningless”

In the past, the President has expressed hesitation to continue aiding Ukraine He cited concerns about costs and just a few months ago, he accused Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of not being grateful for help.

“You’re not in a good position right now,” said the President to Zelenskyy during an Oval Office meeting. “Without us you don’t have the cards and right now you’re playing cards.”

This week the Pentagon said they will send defensive weapons to Ukraine to ensure Ukrainians can defend themselves while we work to securing a lasting peace and ensure the killing stops.

Congressional Republicans have grown more outspoken and divided on whether to continue supplying aid for Ukraine. Trump has been eager to resolve the Ukraine-Russia war.

“They’re getting hit very hard now,” said Trump about Ukraine. “They’re getting hit very hard.”
