MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – In 2024, Michigan broke its previous voter turnout record. One U.P. county was among the highest in the state.
The State Department has released last year’s Election Report, which shows statewide total turnout was more than 5.7 million voters. That number tops Michigan’s previous record from the 2020 Presidential Election.
Keweenaw County saw the third-highest turnout, with 85.2% of registered voters casting a ballot. Meanwhile, Luce County was one of the lowest when it came to mail-in and early voting, with just over 43%.
Michigan also ranked third in the nation, with 74.6% of eligible residents casting a vote.
Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson shared, “As American citizens, our vote is our voice. Now, more than ever, Michiganders are making their voices heard”.
