GWINN, Mich. — The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter (UPAWS) is now accepting entries for its popular annual pet photo calendar contest, with proceeds helping animals in need throughout the region.
Pet lovers can submit photos of any animal—living or deceased—regardless of whether they were adopted from UPAWS. The 2025 calendar will feature five dogs, five cats, one pet of any other species, and one randomly drawn surprise pet.
“Who doesn’t love to show off their animals?” said Ann Brownell, community outreach coordinator at UPAWS. “The passion and love that people have for their pets—well, they’re family—and they mean a lot to people. Everybody loves their pets. It’s a great way to support the shelter, and all the money goes towards helping animals that don’t have homes so that they can get into wonderful homes like yours.”
The contest is one of UPAWS’ most successful fundraisers each year, thanks to strong community participation.
Photo entries will be accepted through July 31, with public voting taking place throughout August.
