“Lunchtime Live!” summer concert series begins at Bay College

ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Tuesday, the sounds of summer filled the Bay College courtyard.

Bay’s Lunchtime Live! concert series has returned for another year. Area musicians perform outside from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on select Tuesdays. The shows are open to the public, and attendees can bring a meal or purchase lunch from food trucks or the Taco Kitchen inside Café Bay. Food trucks are on site from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Organizers say Lunchtime Live! adds some excitement to the campus during its slower months.

“We don’t have any classes happening so it’s pretty quiet, so this is a great way to get our local community on campus during the summer,” said Bay College Events, Communications, and Alumni Coordinator Kaylee Hubert. “It’s free for the public. Bring your own chairs or we’ve got plenty of chairs here as well. [It’s] a good day for food and music and being outside enjoying good company.”

Local band Pickstop kicked off the series this year and last year. Band member Brayden Mathias says it is an opportunity for the group to reach new listeners.

“It was just super fun last year, so it was a big reason I wanted to come back and do it,” he said. “The sound system [Bay] sets up for us is great, and they advertise us on the signs and everything. People don’t have to pay to get in or anything, so it’s super nice for people to be able to show up and for us to be exposed to a new group of people.”

Upcoming Lunchtime Live! performers and vendors:

Tuesday, July 15 – Artist: Singe, featuring artists Jim Hanke and Susan Hank; Food Vendors: Taco Kitchen, Wildmans Munchie Mobile, and Main Squeeze

Tuesday, July 29 – Artist: George Sailor, featuring local artist, George Sailor; Food Vendors: Taco Kitchen, The Curious Pig, and Main Squeeze

Tuesday, August 26 – Artist: Wingin’ It, featuring artists Pat Feldhusen, Pete Ammel, Michael Hall, Heather Grimes, and Scott Breault; Food Vendors: Taco Kitchen, The Grateful Cheese, and Main Squeeze

The Bay College courtyard is located between the Catherine Bonifas Building (Building 200) and the Student Services Building (Building 500) at 2001 North Lincoln Road. In the event of inclement weather, performances will be moved indoors to Café Bay.
