GLADSTONE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The City of Gladstone is starting new traditions at this summer’s Farmers Market.
The Gladstone Farmers Market started on June 2 and continues every Monday through September. On June 30, the market theme was “Family Day,” with activities and vendors specifically geared toward children.
The Michigan DNR offered a hands-on fur and bone workshop. Kids had the opportunity to paint rocks and design paper suncatchers with the Great Start Family Coalition. The Downtown Development Authority organized a scavenger hunt, took family photos, and had chalk available for children who wanted to add some more color to the marketplace.
Family Day immediately got off to a busy start. Downtown Ambassador Samantha Gaudino hopes to make it part of the market every year.
“It’s an amazing way to showcase some of our vendors who really target that demographic of young kids and families,” she said. “We also have some other special events happening this summer, so it’s worthwhile to come out each week and see what we have to offer you.”
Next week’s theme will be “Christmas in July.” In addition to various themes, Gaudino says patrons can expect to see different vendors and activities each week.
