MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The 10th annual U.P. Rainbow Pride Festival was held on Saturday afternoon.
At Marquette’s Mattson Lower Harbor Park, the inclusive festival featured a variety of activities and live entertainment from the LGBTQ+ community and allies. This included events ranging from live music to drag show competitions throughout the evening.
Around 80 vendors were also in attendance this year, as well as non-profit organizations from the region to provide their support.
Each time around, the festival gains more traction throughout the U.P.
“More people know who we are, more people are happy to be here, and more people know what we’re trying to do,” said U.P. Rainbow Pride Volunteer Coordinator, Emily Snow. “Which is facilitate that safety, that inclusion, being seen and having a place to be yourself, entirely yourself, at all times.”
‘Resilience in Bloom’ was this year’s pride theme, as the community continues to thrive against adversity.
