MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The David & Thu Brulé YMCA of Marquette County is looking to raise $500,000 for both the YMCA Scholarship Fund and many new improvements.
After raising almost 4.5 million dollars to build its new Multi-Purpose Field House, the YMCA is looking towards the community to complete the goal of 5 million dollars.
“We’re reaching out to this community now, so we can finish this campaign,” said Board VP, Michele Butler. “We hope that people reach out and say ‘we believe in the Y of Marquette.'”
During Thursday’s YMCA Annual Golf Outing at the Marquette Golf Club, the YMCA’s board of directors announced the launch of it’s Capital Campaign to raise these additional funds. The evening gathered business partners for both a live and silent auction, expected to have raised around $80,000.
The money raised will go towards repairs to the YMCA’s existing facility, the YMCA Scholarship Fund, and many new amenities for its brand new Multi-Purpose Field House, currently undergoing construction.
“We wanted it to be as multipurpose as possible,” said CEO Jenna Zdunek. “So soccer, football, golf, tennis, pickleball, all for those who need it most.”
The Field House is projected to be complete by this fall.
