MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Over 40 vendors spread out along the 100 block of West Washington Street Wednesday, with everything from herbal remedies to handmade jewelry. There was something for everyone.
The longest line I saw was for Girly Pop, a traveling soda pop vendor that creates delicious drinks from unlikely ingredients, and apparently, it’s sweeping the nation.
Our most popular drinks come with a little cream in them, like our OG dirty soda is Dr Pepper with coconut cream and lime, and vanilla. So it sounds a little silly, but it’s really good. You should try one,” explained Alex Kesner, a mixologist for “Girly Pop”.
And I did, and it was good.
This year’s Wednesday night Farmer’s Market is a little more spread out than in years past. Michael Bradford from the Marquette DDA, the primary host of this event, says the new layout is a hit with everyone.
“Basically, we just created bigger gaps between the vendors in certain areas to allow more freedom, both from the vendors and to the businesses that remain open during the Wednesday night market,” said Bradford.
And being within the DDA social district is a big hit as well.
“It basically allows more freedom, so people can say, stop at Digs or the Honorable or the Delft here at the market, grab their favorite beverage, alcoholic beverage, and walk the market,” said Bradford.
Another popular vendor is Case Country Farm, who grill up an awesome smash burger. Owner Trevor Case is grateful for all the support.
“The people are coming out to support, and it’s in droves, and we see that support. We thank everyone for it,” remarked Case.
The Wednesday night Farmers Market happens every Wednesday evening at 5 pm, on the 100 block of West Washington Street until August 27.
