ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Escanaba Department of Public Safety has concluded its investigation into a residential fire that occurred on Sheridan Road on March 17.
Just before 6:30 p.m. that day, two neighboring houses caught fire. Firefighters prevented the flames from reaching a third house and adjacent garage. No injuries were reported.
After a thorough investigation, officials have identified a light/electrical box located near the porch of one of the houses as the origin of the fire. The cause does not appear to have been intentional or a result of human introduction of the flame to a heat source.
Escanaba Public Safety encourages residents to regularly inspect electrical systems, especially in older homes, and to consult with licensed electricians if any concerns are found.
