MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Manistique is celebrating the start of another summer on Friday, June 13.

From 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Schoolcraft Tourism and Commerce, the Manstique Merchants, and Limestone Financial Credit Union will host this year’s first Summer Street Party. South Cedar Street will be blocked off for the festivities, which will include live entertainment, games, and kids’ activities.

Attendees can enjoy beverages from bars and restaurants within the city’s social district and explore all of the businesses in the downtown. Schoolcraft Tourism and Commerce Executive Director Victoria George says it’s a great time for locals and visitors alike.

“Summer Street Parties are a lot of fun because we have live music going on, we have fire pits burning,” she said. “It’s a great time to see the residents and those who are touring our area come out for it and everyone gather, have fun, enjoy themselves.”

Throughout the event, Limestone and its partners will be collecting nonperishable items for local food pantries. Anyone who brings a donation will be entered into a prize drawing.

Schoolcraft Tourism and Commerce will wrap up this summer’s activities with another Street Party on August 29. For details on Summer Street Parties and other Manistique events, visit discovermanistique.com.
