ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – Farmers market season is making its appearance across the U.P. this month.
The Escanaba Farmers Market will be open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays at the Escanaba Marketplace on Ludington Street. The market this year is expecting to see plenty of assorted vendors each time around.
The first day on Wednesday held over 20 vendors, and being early in the growing season, a majority of the first market was filled with homemade crafts and baked goods. Market Manager Judy Schroeder says that more farm-fresh products are expected to be available soon.
“This being the U.P., our veggies are always later, and usually don’t show up until about mid-July,” said Shroeder. “Then, our vendors double at that time.”
Those interested in becoming a vendor can contact the Escanaba Downtown Development Authority (DDA), or visit escanabadda.org.
