Veridea Group to add 36-unit apartment complex in Marquette General Hospital Staff Lot

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Along Magnetic Street, in the old staff parking lot of the Marquette General Hospital, Veridea Group and Integrated Architecture have planned for a 36-unit apartment complex, each fit with 3 bedrooms and 2-car garages.

On Tuesday evening, the Marquette Planning Commission heard updates regarding the project.

Since March, and in various meetings throughout April, Veridea Group has adjusted the apartment layout. This comes in consideration with certain requests from residents of Piqua Street, on the other side of the 3-acre parking lot, leading to slight downsizing in the project.

“I think it’s good that we have a developer that’s willing to take the community voice into account,” said Marquette Planning Commissioner, Kevin Clegg. “It will have a better integration into the neighborhood and it will be a good asset to our community.”

The Planned Unit Development (PUD) was approved 7-0 by the Planning Commission on Tuesday. Once construction begins, the complex is estimated to take approximately 5 years to complete.
