ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – A beloved Escanaba tradition comes to an end this weekend.
The Krusin’ Klassics Car Club held its 40th Fun Run Car Parade Friday evening, followed by a dance at the U.P. State Fairgrounds from 8 p.m. to midnight. On Saturday, May 31, the club’s final Krusin’ Klassics Car Show will open at the fairgrounds at 8 a.m.
At the show, guests can participate in a swap meet, purchase food from local vendors, enjoy family-friendly activities, and enter raffles. The club is raffling off a 1984 Hurst Oldsmobile, which is on display next to the first car the group ever gave away.
This is the Krusin’ Klassics Car Club’s final year hosting the car parade and show. The group aims to go out with a bang, and Club President Mark Caswell expects as many as a thousand classic cars to fill the fairgrounds on Saturday.
“It’s been 40 years of a lot of hard work and whatnot but over the course of the years, we’ve put close to three-quarters of a million dollars back into the community through the fundraising that we do with this event,” Caswell said. “It’s bittersweet, but I think it’s going to be the biggest blowout that we’ve had yet.”
Next year, the Escanaba DDA will host a new car parade and show on the same weekend, ensuring the Krusin’ Klassics spirit lives on. For more information on the upcoming change and the Car Club’s decision to take its “final kruise,” click here.
