Two drivers injured in separate Marquette Township crashes

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – Two drivers received non-life-threatening injuries as a result of two separate crashes in Marquette Township on Thursday.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a personal injury crash on US-41 at Commerce Drive. Deputies on scene determined that an eastbound vehicle disregarded a traffic control device and struck a southbound vehicle.

The driver who disregarded the traffic control device was transported to UPH Health System Marquette for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver whose vehicle was struck declined medical attention.

While deputies were on scene, a second crash occurred near the Red Lobster in Marquette Township due to traffic being slowed down. Three vehicles were involved. One driver was transported to UP Health System Marquette for non-life-threatening injuries, and the other drivers involved denied medical attention.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been factors in the crashes. The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office reminds motorists to slow down and provide additional space while in traffic and to refrain from using cell phones while driving.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Marquette Township Fire Department, Marquette City Police, UPHS EMS, and Marquette Detailing.
