ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Wilson man recently arraigned on drug charges appeared in court on Wednesday for an unrelated case.
In February, Colton Brunette was arrested following a traffic stop, during which police found nearly 200 grams of cocaine, more than 100 grams of fentanyl, 101 grams of ecstasy, and other drugs. Last month, the County Prosecutor dismissed the charges against him, citing forensic evidence that was still being analyzed by the Michigan State Police. The Prosecutor stated that she intends to re-file the charges once all evidence is able to be presented in court.
Wednesday morning, Brunette pled guilty for his involvement in a separate incident in April of 2024. He admitted to knowingly helping someone conceal a vehicle that the other person had stolen.
Brunette’s offense—receiving and concealing stolen property worth $1,000 or more but less than $20,000—is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine or three times the value of the vehicle. Brunette is scheduled to be sentenced on July 28.
