MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. WZMQ) — Michigan’s top political, business, and civic leaders are gathering this week for one of the state’s largest policy gatherings: the annual Mackinac Policy Conference.
Held each spring at the historic Grand Hotel, the conference transforms the island into a powerhouse of policy discussions and networking opportunities. Hosted by the Detroit Regional Chamber, the event draws hundreds of lawmakers, CEOs, advocates, and public officials focused on shaping Michigan’s future.
This year’s agenda centers on key issues including economic revitalization, clean energy investment, and expanding access to education.
With a packed schedule of speeches, panels, and press briefings, state officials are expected to make several major announcements. Among them: updates from the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO), and new insight from the directors of the Michigan State Police and the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE).
The conference also offers a high-profile platform for candidates running for governor and Congress, many of whom are using the island backdrop to share their visions with voters and stakeholders.
WZMQ will be reporting from Mackinac Island all week, bringing exclusive interviews and coverage of the conversations and commitments that could ripple across the state long after the event ends.
Stay tuned for continuing updates throughout the week.
