M.A.R.E.S.A. Transition Program plant sale coming soon

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Marquette-Alger Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) Special Educational Transition Program, offers students hands-on learning in the shift from school to post-school experiences.

Over the past ten years, around the end of May, the classroom sells their own plants grown on school grounds. Throughout its years, the sales have become overwhelmingly popular. On Friday, the class received this years new garden beds, including handicap accessible versions. Students say they are very excited to be involved in this project.

“The most exciting part is working the cash register,” said student Nick Hanes.

It is recommended to get to the sale as soon as possible, as plants and crafts will sell fast.

“All the proceeds go towards the classroom’s activity funds,” said Kelsey Nordengren, the Transition 1A Teacher with Marquette-Alger RESA. “That will fund different community outings for the classes.”

The plant sale will take cash only, starting on May 28 through May 30, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., at 401 W. Kaye Avenue in Marquette.
