ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – An Ishpeming home was destroyed in a fire on Thursday.
At approximately 4:16 a.m., the Ishpeming Fire Department was called to a structure fire on Cedar Street. When the first unit arrived on scene, the house was fully involved with flames through the front windows. Firefighters used a defensive attack and controlled the blaze in about 25 minutes.
A neighboring house, truck, and side-by-side were also damaged in the fire. The house is considered to be a total loss. All residents were able to get out safely, but one dog is still missing.
Units were on scene for nearly three hours until the fire was completely extinguished. No injuries were reported.
The Ishpeming Fire Department was assisted by the Ishpeming Township Fire Department, Marquette County Rescue 131, UP Health Systems West, the Ishpeming Police Department, Ishpeming DPW, Marquette County Central Dispatch, Semco Energy, and Uppco.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. WZMQ will provide an update if a cause is discovered.
