MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Monday, it was announced that President Brock Tessman will be leaving Northern Michigan University to serve as the president of Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana, his last day as NMU President will be July 1, 2025.
In an email sent to the university, Tessman addressed his family’s ‘mixed feelings’ about the decision, but states that “for personal and professional reasons, the president’s role at Montana State is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that we couldn’t pass up.”
Prior to becoming a Wildcat, Tessman worked with university faculty in Montana for many years.
“Tessman began as NMU’s 17th president in February 2023 after serving four years as the deputy commissioner of higher education for the 16 campuses that comprise the Montana University System. He also previously worked as a faculty and administrator at the University of Montana in Missoula,” stated Northern Today.
