MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The 4th annual YooperCon was held on Monday at Northern Michigan University. The Cybersecurity learning event brought 250 high school students from 13 school districts to participate in the experience.
“This one day event is giving these students a hands on learning experience with cybersecurity careers and overall just doing some fun things with cybersecurity,” said Katrina Netzel, a STEM education coordinator at NMU for the Upper Peninsula Cybersecurity Institute.
Multiple guest speakers with backgrounds in cyber technology and cybersecurity came to speak on the importance of their careers and to answer questions about the field. Students also participated in multiple learning sessions in topics such as ethical hacking, coding, lockpicking, and A.I. developments.
The event was hosted by MiSTEM and the UPCI.
