LANSING, Mich. (WZMQ) – Protesters are back on the capitol lawn this week to stand up against the actions of the trump administration. The March 4th to Protect Democracy brought out people of all ages, and supporters of many causes.
People with signs showed their support for Ukraine, veterans, and the LGBT community, their frustrations with President Trump and Elon Musk, and concerns about the administration’s impacts on community, education, and the economy.
Sarah Morr is one of the organizers with MI Resist. She said the protests bring the community together at a time when fear is too common.
“We are getting our voice out, trying to let the lawmakers that are in this Capitol building right now know that we’re tired and we want them to do something about it,” Morr said. “We the people are tired, we are tired of not having our voice heard. We are tired of getting whacked on, of the billionaires doing whatever they want, of the coup that is happening right now.”
The protesters are asking lawmakers on both sides to push back against the actions of the Trump administration, and make sure the constitution is upheld. There are two other protests scheduled for the next two weeks. The Stand Up for Science Rally is scheduled for Friday, March 7 at 12 PM, and The International Women’s March is March 8th at noon.
