MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Iron Golem Games is celebrating their three year anniversary with various tournament events next week. The popular hobby store in downtown Marquette not only sells cards, board games, and collectibles, but offers a welcoming community space to be able to play the games of your choice.
Starting on March 3, many tournaments of games such as Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic The Gathering, and Warhammer will be held throughout the week. A donation drive will also take place towards their ‘Dungeons & Dragons for kids’ events at the Peter White Public Library.
Over Iron Golem’s three years, its growing community has made for a very successful local business. “It’s been a lot of fun through the years,” said Jordan Gokey, a co-owner of Iron Golem Games, “seeing how we’ve been able to cultivate a community and see a diverse inclusion of the people I’ve gotten to meet.”
The store has made many connections throughout town, such as with Kognisjon Bryggeri, holding weekly board game nights at their location. This year to celebrate the anniversary, Kognisjon Bryggeri has announced a new collaborative craft beer in their honor, called ‘Amiable Polyhedron.’
