MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – In partnership with NMU and the Upper Peninsula Cybersecurity Institute, the library is welcoming members of the community to take part in their three ‘cyber clinics’ happening over the next few months.
On Monday, the library hosted their first clinic, teaching seniors the importance of data and password protection, as well as how to stay safe from scammers while browsing the internet. “Unfortunately, senior citizens are targeted because of their wealth and trustworthiness,” said Upper Peninsula Cybersecurity Institute Director Michael Sauer, “it’s become a sort of plague.”
The Peter White Public Library is set to hold two other clinics later this spring. Those include a family cyber clinic on March 17, as well as an A.I. cyber clinic on April 21. Both are held in the Shiras Room upstairs. More information can be found on the UPCI Facebook page.
