ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – On February 7 and 8 Ishpeming Middle School will open its first theatre production, James and The Giant Peach Jr. In the W.C. Peterson Auditorium.
The cast of 50 students have been rehearsing the musical since November and are excited to be unveiling it.
The show’s director Kaitlin Palomaki said many of the students have never done theatre before and it’s been exciting to watch them grow as a cast. “I’d say we have about five students who actually have experience out of fifty,” said Palomaki. “So a lot of little things like teaching them about theatre etiquette and just how theatre works in general and how an entire rehearsal process works, so they’ve all been learning together and that’s been a really enjoyable thing to watch and see them come together.”
The showings will be at 7 p.m. on both nights with an additional 1 p.m. showing on February 8, tickets will be sold at the door.
