The Marquette Curling Club is holding “Drop-in Sundays” to allow anyone interested in the sport to experience it in a friendly environment.
All equipment is provided, and the club’s president said the Sunday event is a great opportunity for new players to learn.
According to the club members, curling is an accessible sport for people of any age and any ability.
One member, David McCartney said he has been able to learn and enjoy the sport despite physical challenges.
“About six years ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and I realized I had to get out and exercise,” said McCartney. “I was able to use the physical and mental techniques for myself and take it to the next level so I’m real happy with that.”
The curling club will also be at Lakeview Arena for the Meijer State Games in February.
