LANSING, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Match on Main grant from the Michigan Economic Development Cooperation (MEDC) is opening for applications on January 20.
The grant is meant to help support local businesses and contains funds from both state and private donors.
Grant recipients like Slapshot Sandwiches and the Ore Dock in 2024 are decided with the help of local organizations like DDAs and chambers of commerce.
Businesses can receive up to 25,000 dollars for things like expansion, infrastructure, or inventory.
The grant’s Program Manager Cathie Abad said the program so far has been success, “On average Match on Main grantees have increased their revenue by $58,000 dollars er business per year so it is definitely a success,” said Abad. “And what I love about it is this is targeted towards small businesses that otherwise don’t fit other grant opportunities.”
