What’s UP with Megan: Kingsford hosts Community Christmas event Thursday evening

We’re spreading Christmas cheer in downtown Kingsford as the City prepares for its highly anticipated Community Christmas Event!

The festive celebration will take place at the Kingsford Armory from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, offering an evening full of holiday spirit and free, family-friendly activities. The event will kick off with the lighting of the Christmas tree, beautifully decorated with hundreds of sparkling lights and ornaments, setting the stage for an unforgettable night.

Entertainment for the evening will include live performances from students at Woodland Elementary and the Kingsford Music Department, filling the venue with joyful holiday tunes. For the younger attendees, Santa Claus will be making a special appearance, available for photos and to hear Christmas wishes.

The event will also feature a charming holiday market with local vendors offering a variety of unique gifts, crafts, and festive treats. Guests can warm up with seasonal classics like hot chocolate and cookies while enjoying a range of games and activities for all ages.

  • Curious about the journey of coffee from bean to cup? Join Velodrome Coffee in Ishpeming this Friday from 9am to 10am for a tour of their roastery and an interactive coffee cupping experience!
  • Friday evening, the Escanaba Christmas Parade will take place on Ludington Street, starting at 6 p.m. from Escanaba City Hall and ending at Stephenson Avenue. Santa will be there, both during the parade and afterward at the Escanaba Marketplace, greeting kids. For more details, visit our website at wzmq19.com.
  • Santa, using the power of Christmas, and Mrs. Claus will also be spreading holiday cheer at the Hubbell Fire Hall this Friday from 6-8 p.m., where children can visit with the festive duo.
  • Saturday, The Marquette Community Nutcracker Ballet presents a special “Christmas at Camp” twist on the classic Nutcracker story. It will be held twice,  at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Kaufman Auditorium. Tickets are available at tickets.nmu.edu.
  • Finally, starting this Tuesday, the interactive art installation Oscillation will be on display at the Marquette Commons. Illuminated daily from 7 am to 10 pm until January 5, this immersive installation invites visitors of all ages to touch, move, and explore, transforming the artwork in real-time.
