IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – The owners of Iron Mountain’s “Trump Tower” hosted a fireworks display Tuesday evening at the site.
The evening’s fireworks were in honor of Veterans Day, but had to be postponed until Tuesday night due to high winds Monday. The fireworks were provided by pyrotechnics professionals Spread Eagle Fireworks. The show was made possible after the Iron Mountain City Council approved a fireworks permit at a special meeting held Monday. The tower’s owner, Dan Rittenhouse, was proud to honor our veterans.
“We went there and there was only one nay-sayer, and I think the vote was like six to one in favor. There were many veterans there, we are very proud to be celebrating veteran’s day. And we wouldn’t be here without the veterans, so I can’t say enough that I thank you all for your service to this country.
The abandoned smokestack bearing an 80-foot-tall political banner has been ordered by a Dickinson County Court to be taken down. The court set Tuesday as the deadline for removal of the banner, which was installed without a proper permit. The landowner may face fines if the banner is not removed.
