MANISTIQUE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Some familiar Golden Arches have found a new home in Manistique.
McDonald’s has opened its first Schoolcraft County establishment, located at 733 East Lake Shore Drive. It is the most up-to-date McDonald’s model, complete with ordering kiosks, modern furnishings, and two drive-through lanes.
Owner Tim Wilson says McDonald’s has been part of his family’s life for decades.
“In 1984, my parents bought the Escanaba McDonald’s,” he said. “About a year later, I came up from Toledo, Ohio, and started working for my parents. I worked for them and expanded their organization over the next 20 years. In 2006, my parents retired and I bought the Escanaba and Gladstone restaurants from them.”
Wilson says he’s been interested in bringing the franchise to Manistique for years. He believes McDonald’s will prove to be a great benefit to the community.
“We were able to come here and hire about 60 people,” said Wilson. “I think the City of Manistique has been super excited for us to come here. I think it’ll be a nice fit. They’ve all been very, very helpful for us getting here and getting open. We’re hopefully getting a little better every day, and it’s going well!”
McDonald’s is currently open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Wilson expects those hours to expand. the Manistique restaurant is hiring for all shifts, and those interested in employment can text Mi076 to 38000 to apply.
