ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – Goldie’s antique and boutique store in Ishpeming cut its ribbon on Friday.
The new shop is co-owned by two sisters who bought the building back in the spring.
One sister, Cassandra Sturos, also is involved in two other antique businesses, one in Marquette, and one in Negaunee.
Sturos said while she’s worked in business before, buying a whole building for her own business was a big step for her.
“This is my first time buying a building and being a business owner of this caliber,” said Sturos. “I’ve partnered on things and done a lot of business forays but buying a building and all the background work that I had no concept of was eye-opening.”
Sturos said they plan to expand the store into the basement space in the future, and possibly even add a bakery eventually.
Goldie’s will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
