ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Bonifas Arts Center has appointed a new executive director.
Chelsea Hart took over the reins at the Bonifas on October 14, bringing a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective that aligns with the center’s mission to enhance and inspire the cultural and creative life of the community. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Michigan University, with a major in Human Centered Design and a minor in Computer Information Systems.
Hart has more than six years of experience in the nonprofit sector working with organizations like AmeriCorps and Boy Scouts of America. She also developed leadership skills and operational expertise in a past role as a development director at the Cradle of Liberty Council in Philadelphia.
Hart says she was drawn to the Bonifas because of its focus on local artists and sharing their work with the community. The Bonifas also holds a special place in her heart, as some of her own art was featured in the gallery when she was in high school.
“I am thrilled to join the Bonifas team and to work alongside such a dedicated group of staff and volunteers,” Hart said. “Together, we will build on the organization’s strengths and pursue innovative strategies to enhance our impact in the community.”
