HOUGHTON COUNTY, MI – Ahead of the November election, concerns about election integrity have been tossed around. With just days before early voting to begin in Battleground Michigan, the Houghton County Clerk is reassuring voters to not have any doubts about casting their vote.
On Tuesday, Houghton County Clerk Jeniffer Kelly said they finished their first big hurdle for this election: pre-testing.
“What we do is we test all the ballots which are called [inaudible] tests at that time and there’s every candidate, race, over votes, under votes, write ins, we test everything to make sure its 100 percent on twice,” said Kelly. We asked how the tests performed. “We were 100 percent on.”
Election integrity has been a hot topic leading up to the November elections. Despite no credible evidence that the 2020 elections were rigged, former President Donald Trump has continued say otherwise, which has stirred up questions, conspiracies and doubts about our elections.
Kelly said they’re ready to handle another big election.
“You know since 2020, Michigan, I know probably every other state in the US has gone under scrutiny for elections and what’s true and not and who has won and has their vote counted, I can only assure people in my county that we have a very good checks and balances in place,” said Kelly. “Their vote will be counted and I have a total belief in that our numbers are right.”
