MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Iron Workers Local 8 finally opened its Training Center off of route M28 E Saturday. This is the first training facility in this area, and everyone who is a part of this project is more excited than ever.
This facility offers hands-on training in multiple fields like welding, air arching, mass timber, structural mock-ups, etc. This building took about two years to build after the purchase of the land.
“How historic this is for our members to have a place of their own. I mean, we used to have training classes in people’s garages, now to have a $5.5 million building to call their own,” said Charlie Falkner, Iron Workers Local 8 business manager.
Local 8 is eager for the community to use its facility for not only training but community events as well. For more information on the new Local 8 training center check out the Iron Workers Local 8 website.
