LANSING, Mich. (WZMQ) -The democratic governors of midwest swing states have kicked off a Blue Wall Bus Tour. The group is making stops around Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania to campaign for the Harris Walz ticket.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro are traveling around their states, talking with people about voting blue up and down the ballot in this election.
“We now have a responsibility, not just to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, but a responsibility to do this hard work to leave this place better for those who come after us,” Shapiro said. “We’ve got a lot more work to do and that work is happening right here in Michigan, in Pennsylvania, and in Wisconsin.”
Polls have consistently predicted a close election nationwide, and Pennsylvania and Michigan are anticipated to play a critical role for both presidential candidates. With just weeks to go, many state officials have taken to campaigning on behalf of Trump and Harris to secure more votes in key states.
Michigan and Pennsylvania hold a large portion of electoral votes and are expected to be extremely close when it comes to the presidential portion of the ballot, meaning that the outcome of the election could depend on both swing states.
“The way we vote is going to determine everyone’s fate, not just in Michigan, not just in this country, but around the world. because American leadership matters.” Whitmer said. “Pull people into this moment, don’t write anyone off, wear them down if you have to. Let’s get it done so that on November 6th we can celebrate that Michigan showed up.”
The group was joined by Michigan Supreme Court candidate, Kimberly Thomas, and the governors of Maryland and Massachusetts. They all focused on emphasizing the importance of using your voice this election and making sure those around you are too.
