Goalie Max Vayrynen, Forward Elias Jansson
HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech hockey players Max Vayrynen and Elias Jansson were named CCHA Players of the Week on Monday.
Junior goaltender Max Vayrynen backstopped the Huskies to a non-conference sweep of Alaska. He stopped 15 shots on Friday in a 2-1 overtime win and made a career-high 29 saves in a 2-1 victory on Saturday. On the weekend, he had a CCHA-best 0.98 goals-against average and a .957 save percentage.
Freshman forward Elias Jansson is the Rookie of the Week. He scored the overtime game-winner in the 2-1 victory over Alaska on Friday. For the weekend, he was even with six shots on goal, which was the second-most on the team.
Tech is off this weekend before hosting Clarkson on Oct. 25-26 for another non-conference series at John MacInnes Student Ice Arena.
