MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Marquette-Alger RESA held a “Legislative Breakfast” on Friday to connect school teachers and administrators from around the UP to legislators to address issues affecting out schools and students.
They talked about things like school safety, and mental health.
There was also a lot of discussion about new legislation regarding how school’s educate students with dyslexia.
“Today’s dialogue was just that,” said the Marquette-Alger RESA Superintendent Gregory Nyen. “It was an opportunity for give and take and there were opportunities for clarification, opportunities for questions, and opportunities to really explore some of these topics at a deeper level.”
Nyen also said he is hopeful that communication between legislators and educators continues in the future.
