ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – The latest production by Escanaba’s Players de Noc premiered Friday evening at the Bonifas Arts Center Theater.
Murder on the Orient Express is a stage adaptation of the Agatha Christie book of the same name. The dramatic comedy follows a cast of characters as they work to solve the mystery of a murder that happened on board their train.
“You’ve got a confined space and a limited number of potential suspects,” said director Jim Soderberg. “As typical with Agatha Christie, she laces her stories with a significant number of red herrings, false leads, false clues as to who might possibly be the murderer.”
The Players de Noc cast and crew put countless hours of work into the production. The set includes handmade details, antique props, and moving components.
“I think It’s a testament to what Players has been doing for the last 60 years,” Soderberg said. “We’ve had quite a number of really talented people putting their efforts into designing and building the set—which is outstanding—and you’ve got a lot of good, local talent providing live entertainment like you can’t find in any other community this size.”
Murder on the Orient Express begins at 7:30 p.m. on October 5 and October 10 – 12. A matinee performance is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 6. Tickets are available at the Bonifas Arts Center, located at 700 1st Avenue South, or at playersdenoc.org.
