Washington DC Correspondents to Cover Vice Presidential Debate

by WZMQ
September 30, 2024
A A

NEW YORK CITY, NY – Tuesday night, Vice Presidential candidates JD Vance and Tim Walz will face off in a debate. Our Washington, D.C. correspondents Brendan Scanland and Rachel Knapp are reporting from New York City to cover the debate.

We can expect the candidates will be talking up their presidential running mate, really emphasizing what Donald Trump and Kamala Harris stand for and see in their administration.

Historically speaking Vice Presidential debates don’t have too much of an impact on elections but political scientists we’ve talked with said this is different. It is such a close race between former President Trump and Vice President Harris that everything, including the VP debate, matters.

Some polls show Harris is narrowly ahead of Trump in battleground states like Pennsylvania and Michigan. Both of those candidates are working extra hard to win over those states, including making several campaign stops in those states trying to win over voters.

We expect both of them to tout their economic vision for the country because the economy is historically the number one voting issue. we can also expect them to hit those important issues for their base, like immigration, crime, reproductive rights and safeguarding democracy.
