MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A garden honoring the memory of babies lost in stillbirth or miscarriage was dedicated today in Marquette.
“Moxie-moms 9-0-6” and the “Lake Superior Community Partnership” held a ribbon cutting ceremony at their new memorial garden, located at the corner of 5th and Spring Streets.
The memorial garden is designed to give support and comfort to families who have faced the loss of a pregnancy.
Incorporated into the garden are local rocks that were personalized by families who lost a child during pregnancy.
“Moxie-moms 9-0-6” hopes this space can provide some peace to those families.
“This is a garden open to everybody. Our group is promoting support for families that have gone through perinatal loss. Part of our mission with the group was to create a beautiful, serene, comforting environment. A tangible place where families can come to memorialize the babies that they’ve lost,” said Lucas.
