IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – Law enforcement officials have executed a series of search warrants related to the disappearance of Nancy Renkas, a Florence County woman who vanished over eight years ago in Dickinson County. The recent searches, conducted over the weekend, targeted multiple properties in Breitung Township as part of a renewed effort to find evidence connected to her case.
Search warrant documents obtained from the Dickinson County Prosecutor’s Office reveal that authorities, including the Michigan State Police and the FBI, searched several properties on Upper Pine Creek Road. The search, led by Detective Lieutenant Brian Polzein of the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, involved the use of cadaver dogs and electronic detection devices to comb through the land, structures, and outbuildings.
Among the properties searched were those belonging to Dale and Louise Wender, Dale and Gary Wender, and Lucas and Kena Corsi, among others. Notably, primary residences at several of these locations were excluded from the search. Authorities were specifically looking for human remains, biological evidence, and any personal effects that could be linked to Renkas.
A second search warrant focused on electronic devices, commanding the search and seizure of cell phones and an Apple MacBook Pro belonging to Louise Wender, as well as other electronic devices capable of storing location data and messages. The warrant covered data from June 15, 2016, to June 15, 2017, and explicitly aimed to uncover information related to Renkas’s disappearance, while protecting privileged information unrelated to the investigation.
A third warrant targeted written materials such as receipts, journals, and other documentation that might shed light on the disappearance or death of Renkas. The warrant was also executed on a property owned by Dale and Louise Wender on Upper Pine Creek Road.
These developments mark a significant step in the long-running investigation into Nancy Renkas’s disappearance, as authorities continue to seek justice for her and her family.
