MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Marquette man has been arrested after a traffic stop, which lead to the finding of a large quantity of a controlled prescription substance.
According the Marquette City Police, the incident took place at about 8:30 pm on Monday, August 5, when an officer initiated a traffic stop for a motor vehicle code violation on S. 5th Street near Spring Street in the city of Marquette.
During contact with the driver, observations were made regarding prohibited substances. A further investigation lead to the discovery, and the driver was arrested for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. The driver was lodged in the Marquette County Jail, and is described as a 19-year-old male resident of Marquette.
A search warrant was obtained for the driver’s residence after the traffic stop, where additional controlled and illegal substances were located. The incident remains under investigation, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
