MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – This is the annual Ore to Shore’s 25th year of the Mountain Bike Race through Marquette. To celebrate the 25 years Ore Dock Brewery, a partner of this year’s race, made a limited edition IPA named Epic, after the race.
This race was started cause there was no point-to-point bike race in Marquette, due to how difficult it can be to find 48 miles of terrain with either no landowners or getting all the landowner’s permission, and that’s what the Ore to Shore team did. This course comprises rock, sand, and water as organizers said it’s a true cross-country event. The Ore to Shore bike race requires no age minimum or maximum, a rider has been participating since the start and is turning 84 this year.
“I just like watching the kids we have about 400 kids each year and a lot of them stick it out, come up, and keep coming back for longer and longer races, they’re definitely pure enthusiasm and fun,” said Scott Tuma, Ore to Shore race director.
The Ore to Shore team would like to thank all the event sponsors and all 400 volunteers who made this race happen, plus a thank you to the Ore Dock Brewery organizer shares, as an avid IPA drinker this one is great.
The Ore to Shore race is Saturday, August 10th and registration closes on August 9th, for more information or to register go to the Ore to Shore website.
