MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – This is the 34th year that the Marquette of Kiwani’s sponsored the Independence Day parade. This year they were able to get two F-16’s to do a flyover, this hasn’t been done in a few years and after some emailing and coordinating the Kiwani’s was able to make it happen for this years parade.
“It just shows how important it is that we honor our military and it’s one of the reasons we do the parade is to honor America’s military because they fought for us and the other reason is sour kids. ” said Robert Anderson, director of the Kiwani’s 4th of July parade. He highlighted how special he felt the flyover would be for the veterans and the kids who he felt really we’re the one’s who enjoyed the parade.
The planes flew north to south over Marquette at 10:14 am and we’re from the Bulldogs of the 148th Air National Guard.
