ISHPMEING, Mich, (WZMQ) – The Mather cut its ribbon today after getting its permanent occupancy permit from the county in April.
The nearly hundred-year-old building has a long-term and short-term rental rooms, a bar called “The Lounge” and a ballroom open for events of all kinds.
Bill Anderson, one of the building’s owners said the two-year process of renovation has been fairly smooth, and attributes the success so far to the community.
“The process went pretty easy, the public really welcomed the building,” said Anderson. “A lot of people are coming in from all over wanting to see the building, it hasn’t been shared with the community in a long time. It’s just an incredible building that’s finally coming into the limelight,”
Anderson said they plan to open a second bar in the basement of The Mather by the end of the year.
