MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Electric bikes are definitely gaining traction, meaning you’ll start seeing a lot more of them on the road, especially this time of the year.
Its a new way to get around and some may not be used to having them nearby. That’s why it’s important to slow down in congested areas, be mindful of other riders and pedestrians, and follow the laws of the road. “They are going to be a little bit faster,” said Everett Bateman, owner of Bates Bikes in Marquette. “You do have to slow down in congested areas and be cautious and courteous to other riders so that they can ride comfortable, confident, and in control.”
Bates Bikes is planning on holding a monthly workshop to explain to riders proper etiquette when using an e-bike. Bateman said they’re hoping to come out with more details on those workshops soon.
