MARQUETTE, Mich (WZMQ) – The 2024 Marquette Pride Festival was held at Lower Harbor for the 3rd year. This festival started in 2014 and is the biggest Pride festival in the Upper Peninsula today.
The Marquette Pride Festival was started for multiple reasons. The festival provides visibility, safety, and support to those in the LGBTQ+ community as well as commemorating history and creating a welcoming spot and community. Seeing all the hard work and support come together as well as seeing the community come together is the organizer’s favorite part.
“Seeing that huge of a gathering in what is kinda a small town in a very rural area, this is the largest pride fest in the Upper Peninsula and just seeing how many of us came together, how far people come from to be here to gather and join together it’s incredible”, Emily Snow, Rainbow Pride Volunteer Coordinator.
Rainbow Pride is grateful for the support Marquette’s community provides every year. This event is made possible by local sponsors, fundraisers throughout the year, vendors, and of course the community.
